It’s only been four months since Apple released the Vision Pro, but they’re already rolling out VisionOS 2 at WWDC 2024. This new version brings some impressive updates to the headset’s operating system, improving apps, the virtual desktop, and gesture controls.
Introducing Train Mode
A major highlight of VisionOS 2 is the new Train Mode. After some influencers used the Vision Pro on busy streets and subways, Apple received feedback about safety concerns. In response, Train Mode has been added to Travel Mode.
This feature automatically activates when the headset detects you’re on a train or plane, making it safer and more convenient to use.
Enhanced Photos App
The Photos app is getting a big boost in VisionOS 2. Now, you can turn your regular 2D images into spatial photos using machine learning.
This means you can enjoy a 3D-like view of your photos even if you didn’t use a special camera to take them. Plus, you can share these spatial photos with friends and family through SharePlay, allowing everyone to view them together.
New Spatial Lens for Canon Cameras
For those who love capturing moments, Apple has introduced a new spatial lens for Canon cameras with RF/RF-S mounts, like the Canon EOS R7. This new lens makes it easier to take spatial photos and videos, enhancing your photography experience.
Expanded Virtual Desktop
VisionOS 2 also makes the virtual desktop more versatile. You can now scale your desktop to match the size of two 2K (1440p) monitors side-by-side. This gives you a true multi-monitor setup within the headset, especially useful when working with a MacBook, and offers a high-resolution, immersive experience.
These updates show Apple’s dedication to making the Vision Pro even better, providing more features and flexibility to enhance your overall experience.
